About Alcácer
Past
Alcácer is one of the oldest cities in Europe with history that dates back to 1000 B.C.
Initially occupied by the Phoenicians due to its fertile lands, its diverse fishing grounds and even its central location to Europe and Africa.
Later on, Alcácer shifted towards a Roman village and after that a Mourish town until the 12th century when King Afonso Henriques conquered it from the Mours.
Present
Currently the municipality of A.cacer do Sal has 13,000 habitants over 15000km2 being the biggest municipality by land size in Portugal. The city of Alcacer is the centre of the municipality with over 6700 habitants, its historical beauty and unique scenery is what makes this city a trye hidden gem. From its well preserved castle from the 12th century or the once famous rice fields there are multiple things to enjoy in this marvelous city.

Near By
Comporta
Comporta is a village in the municipality of Alcácer right by the coast. To the north it has the Sado Estuary abundant in wildlife and to the West the crystal clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean. A summer retreat popular amongst the Portuguese upper class it is also famous for its celebrities who have properties here, from Sarkozy to Monica Belluci all have elected comporta as their go to destination.
Troia
Troia is a luxury resort recently developed right by Comporta. With a unique location right by Setúbal, this village benefits from exceptional beaches facing the Atlantic ocean, one of a kind views towards the Arrabida mountains and the wildlife offered by Sado Estuary. With a 5 star hotel, a brand new marina filled with luxurious yatches, a golf course right by the beach and one of Portugal´s biggest casino, Troia is definitely worth a visit.
Setúbal
Located 25 minutes from Lisbon and Alcácer, Setúbal is the busiest city closest to Alcácer. On the other side of the Troia Peninsula is this fishing city full of life and history. With 120,000 habitants and direct access to Lisbon, this city is a hotspot in Portugal.
Estuário do Sado
The Sado Estuary is a unique location right by Alcácer do Sal. Its wide length abundant in wildlife is the perfect location to experience the unique birdwatching scenery to the habitual dolphins that swim through these clean waters.
Lisboa
One of the most beautiful European capitals, Lisbon is a place full of energy. Considered by many one of the safest city in the world, Lisbon benefits from its beautiful scenery and iconic views over the Tagus river.
Évora
Évora is an historic city located an hour drive from Alcácer do Sal. With its magnanimous castled dating to the 11th century, this city is an icon in Portuguese history and in Portuguese gastronomy. From the inside of its castle walls over the large plains of Alentejo it won´t be hard to find a good place to eat or sleep.
Beja
The Alentejo capital, Beja is the biggest city in the region. Embeded in history, this city has managed to unity the historic elements with the new modern architectural and social advancements. It is famously known for its unique Portuguese gastronomy.
New Airport
Throughout 2018, Lisbon´s airport dealt with 30 million passengers, that’s 3 times the Portuguese population. Nearing its maximum capacity the Portuguese government has approved plans to develop a new airport on the other side of the shores of Tagus, by Montijo. This will mean shorter travel distances mainly for Alcácer and Setúbal residents who will now take approximently 30min by car or public transport.

Projects
Alcacer Village is BWA’s biggest project to date. With a total of 19 units, our architects have had the difficult challenge of maintaining the traditional architecture of Alcacer whilst being able to create modern and contemporary apartments. All units are 2-bedroom, with large interior spaces and outdoor areas to enjoy the multiple days of sunshine Alcacer has!
